Guest guest
I was just wondering how many of you have gone through the process? I'm no closer to a real diagnosis, yet, and I only have about 6 months of disability insurance. My doctors, employer, etc. have all encouraged me to apply for SS disability AND SSI (just in case). My gp said that you usually will be turned down your first attempt, and not to get discouraged. She said she has a current patient who is working on her third try, and she is not as obviously sick as I am. Any idea how long the initial process goes, and each " re-try " ? At this point I'm really afraid we may lose the house, since I made more money than my husband, and he seems to have issues keeping a job for more than a year or two, anyway. I'm almost at the point of looking for another job and just " lying " and stating I'm healthy, just so we can have the money. I know it isn't good for me, but I need to get food on the table and keep a roof over our heads, and my work will not allow me back until my neurologist signs a release, and she's not going to sign it (I've tried, believe me). Shoot, at this point I'm not even allowed to drive...don't know if she's turned me into the DMV, yet, but if she has I'd be keeping Spike's old girlfriend company if I got caught. Anyway...any other suggestions on how to go about the process would be appreciated, too. I'm new to this stuff, and I get a little bit nervous the first time around on this kind of thing.
