We just returned from Shands in Gainesville Florida. They say Telaprevir in

June. I have failed Peg/Ribo Bigtime. They are testing me with the new Lab Corp

IL28B to probably confirm that I wont respond to the IFN again. They are telling

me I have 1 in 3 chance of clearing virus and they will know at 4 weeks if I

have a chance to clear and confirm by week 12. I will probably go for it as Life

hasn't been much fun these past few months.

A little Hx.

I've had Hep C probably since 1971.

Just this July after having a really stressful year and overdoing it physically,

I came down with what I wrote off as the Flu.

Its now Dec 1 and I still feel bad.. They now say I have " Compensated Cirrhosis

now. I'm just looking for some answers and maybe a little hope here.

Thanks

Hi, I'm SuZie. We have quite a bit in common. I caught HCV inn 1969. . I've tried tx twice, the docs wouldn't let me try any more 'cause in 2003 they decided "my disease had decompensated" & tx could do me more harm than good. Four years ago the docs found a lump on an MRI & said I had liver cancer. They did all their test & such & put me on the transplant list. Last year they decided that I DON'T have cancer & I'm off the list.My doctor is going to try & get me into a study on the latest tx next year when it becomes available but I'm not worried, whether I get in or not I figure I'll still be here for a long time. They say my chances of responding are around 12

%I'm on Disability now, have been for 9 years. I can't hold a job 'cause I've got encephalopathy & can't remember when I'm supposed to be places, like work or doctor appointments. You're not the only one, believe me, you've got lots of company.SuZie Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused Novocain during a root canal? Wow I think I would go for it also, first I heard of IL28B. I am post

transplant with stage 3 fibrosis in my graft liver and my Hepotologist

is insisting I lose more weight. I've lost 40 LBS. I treated for 52

weeks, tolerated it well, cleared but relapsed at 6 momths.

I wonder why he hasn't mentioned that test. I go to the University of

Kansas, a teaching Hospital and I know he must know about it.

Let us know the results of the lab.
