I watched part of a congressional hearing about the mercury in the hepatitis B

vaccine. The doctor was showing slides of human brain cells that had been

exposed to a lesser amount of mercury than the kids who got the shots, and the

cells had damage and the doctor said it could very well cause autism. I never

saw any of the information the doctor presented in any magazine or any news

program. The papers were all over it when they announced that mercury in the

environment could cause autistic-like problems, but there was dead silence about

the vaccine. How do they manage that??? The vaccines had many times the amount

of mercury than is allowed in food and it was injected straight into their

little bodies. My brother's doctor told him that the mercury in the hep B

vaccine was removed. If it wasn't the problem, then why did they change it?

When parents of autistic kids try to get compensation from the drug companies,

they are thwarted at every turn. The government has actually

made laws that prevent these parents from having free access to all the

information they'd need to make their case.

dreamer, what a sad and horrible thing you had to go through at the nursing

home. It shows the other side of it. If there was an unhindered free flow of

information, then everyone could make intelligent decisions on a case-by-case

basis. I can certainly see why you would connect the mess of vaccines and your

hospitalization.

I know I was dx'ed with Lupus when I was 18 (I am now 46) and in approx 2000 I

had to be vaccinated with all the typical vaccines for nursing school. DTP,

MMR, Hib, Hep B, tetnus. exactly 10 days later I was hospitalized and began an

extremely sudden and aggressive descent into the hell my rheumy calls my RA.

It has not been confirmed or proven my RA is from the vaccines, but it also has

not been ruled out.

There is so much information for both sides of vaccine controversy. I am not

sure of my own personal opinion, except I think much more investigation needs to

be done.

ANd yes, the flu vaccine is developed each year based on a prediction and

monitoring of which particular strains seem to be predominant for any given

year.and they may or may not be the strains that hit hard in any given year.

BUT for some people such as those with HIV or certain cancers, any flu could be

fatal....and for some the risk of becoming ill or getting a flu shot must be

carefully measured. In normal healthy people most flu is an inconvenience at

most..but in compromised people, it can be easily fatal. I owrked in a county

nuring home one winter where we lost over 60% of our patient population to flu.

It was a very scary season. Our nursing home was quarantined and staff had to

stay and sleep there and staff who were not on duty were not allowed in and no

visitors allowed. I think it was 1995.
