Guest guest
She needs to find out the condition of her liver. The biopsy will tell her doctor that information. If she has only had it for 3 years, chances are her liver has not even suffered damage. To be honest, at this point, does it really matter how she got it? All thats gonna do is drive her crazy trying to figure it out. Bottom line is that she has it. Thats my opinion. She has to process this diagnoses in her own way so get all the information that is available to her so she can be intelligently informed about her condition. There are different stages of liver damage and I have had this disease for 25 years and the damage to my liver is not that bad. Everyone is different. So ask your doctor what her damage is. My doctor told me not to drink. He says that will take you down faster than just about anything else. Also there is tons of info out there on what kind of diet is good to maintain good liver health. This disease is not a death sentance by any means. There is treatment available and new medications that will be availalable in the near future. Guest guest
Hi Hun, Yes, HCV can & does go for years undetected. I got it in 1969 & wasn't dx'd(diagnosed) until 1990 & then only because I asked to be tested My 1st G I told me that I was lucky 'cause most people didn't find out until they started showing symptoms & that was "just before the end" If you're different genos you didn't give it to each other so quit worrying. She could have caught it from a contaminated needle, a transfusion, a tattoo or lots of other ways - the important thing now is that she has it NOT how she got it.BTW, I'm 60 yrs old & I got it the traditional way, shooting drugs.SuZieThe problem with the gene pool? No lifeguards!
