Hi there

How long have you been banded for

What did you eat for tea, was it meat or similiar. it helps to know

Have you tried some coke or something to dislodge the possible blockage

Have you been spitting out any phlegm the worst thing you can do is try to swallow it.

Do you have your dr's mobile number to talk to him

Sometimes these can take a while to clear, I often rub my chest, like burping a baby, this sometimes help

Regards

Rob

Hi there,

When you say pain in the chest - do you mean your heart? If so I would suggest that you call an ambulance or get yourself to an Emergency Department ASAP - I work at a hospital and have realised how serious chest pain can be especially if it is your heart.

If it isn't your heart - could it be something you have eaten - maybe food poisoning? It is going around at the moment especially with chicken...

What area do you live in? Do you have a GP Access service in your area?

Troy

Hi Rob,

I was banded on Dec 2 2006.

It was meat for tea. Same as I have been able to handle before but not

tonight.

Haven't tred coke but water won't stay down.

I have been spitting out any phlegm can't keep that down at all.

Will look for Dr's number.

Thanks,

Nita

Hi Troy

Nita has a pice of food blocked, this causes intense pain, it is easy to identify by the fact that she is salivating a lot, this happens when a blockage occurs.

When you become banded you will have a great respect for people who are unable to get food down, this will become very evident when your first blockage occurs, as there is chest pain involved, what is happening is the food is trying to stretch it's way through the upper workings of your oesophagus and down into the pouch, and it is stuck, it wonl;t go down, so it must come out, releif will not occur till this happens.

But Nita has the option to call her dr, which if this is her first blocake may be advisable.

I note Beverlee has since posted, so Nita will be able to get some advice if she rings her

blockage and the pain has gone, oh boy do I feel better.

Thank you,

worked. I feel so much better now.

Oh yeah, when I had my first blockage, I seriously thought I was having a heart attack. Thank goodness for soda water, is all I can say! I am never without a bottle of the stuff, even though I dont get blocked all that often these days, thank goodness.

Some days my band seems to be a lot tighter than other days though, do others notice this too??
