It's fun, but it does take patience and endurance, LOL. She'll actually lie about what people say about each other and then sit back and watch the fireworks. We finally have learned to usually just question everything she says and give each other the benefit of a doubt. One year I finally asked them to never have anything to do with us for Christmas for the next five years. My husband's father and grandfather are so mean. One time I was visiting my in-laws soon after finding out I was pregnant with our oldest child. I had previously been devastated by a miscarriage and was very worried about carrying this one to term. At the dinner table, Mark's grandpa said to me, " Hey, how about taking care of this kid so you don't lose it like the last one! " My FIL thinks that kind of thing is pretty funny. Over the years I've learned to emotionally dissociate myself from anything they say.
