Mike,

I am sorry that your feeling depressed, I understand how you feel. It

is so hard to deal with this disease each day. I am not sure about

the dose on mtx, I take 6pills a week,2.5mg. Is the Enbrel helping?

I know all these meds are overwhelming, so please don't feel bad. I

am always here if you need to talk.

Hugs, Tawny

my R.A. really is. it's getting kind of scaring sitting here and

really thinking about it. and thinking of what maybe next. need to

get my head on straight and keep on keepin on.. a little depressed

right now . guess i need to kick myself in the butt and straighten

Mike, are the Enbrel and methotrexate keeping your RA under good

control? I hope that it is. Whatever it takes to ease the pain and

inflammation is what you need to take. I wouldn't worry about how much

it is, as long as you don't have adverse side effects.

I just hope Enbrel and Celebrex keep on working for me. Methotrexate

lowers my white blood cell count, so I can't take it. I guess we all

fear that we'll run out of medications that work. Sue

Hi Mike,

I wanted to respond as you have always been so helpful to me in the

past and I am sorry that you are feeling down and I know how scary

this whole disease process is for sure, especially when we lose a

member like Joan Arnold to the complications of an autoimmune

disease. It kind of wakes you up a little and personally scares me

to death too. First, my dear MIL who has had RA for at least 10-15

years is on 30 mg of MTX weekly, so you are not the only one on such

a high dose. She is fairly stable on it though and for someone who

has had the disease as long as her, she does remarkably well and is

still mobile and still has good use of her hands so there is always

hope. She has been on this high dose for years and as long as you

have your lab work monthly, she has been told she should be okay. I

am truly faithful about my labs, are you? They really are so

important in keeping track of what our meds are doing to our

bodies. Secondly, you really helped me come out of that depressive

spell I was having a short time ago and I hope your spell won't last

too long. Try to focus on the positive (I know how hard that is

sometimes) and think about being here for another Christmas

(yippee)! I get to watch my kids open their presents again this

year. I am trying to focus on being grateful for the moments and

memories we are creating as a family right now and not worry about

the future. It seems to be helping me some. Of course, I am on an

antidepressant like most of us are. Are you as well? I think you

said you were, but my memory stinks, LOL. Please, know that you are

not alone in this fight and that we are always here for you. This

group has saved me spiritually on more than one occasion. Hang in

there, better times are coming.

Hugs and prayers,

Oh, you're not alone on that dose, Mike. I take 25mg injectable

MTX, plus the Enbrel, plus the Plaquinal, plus the prednisone, plus,

oh, I don't know what else. I'm losing track of it all!! I also

have the same concerns. What is next? I don't know, my rheumy

isn't sure either!! All I know is that thinking about it makes my

head hurt and just depresses me. So, it's like you said, I give

myself a kick in the butt and staighten up. I figure it could be

worse!!......Marina

Mike,

It may depend on how long someone is on mtx. Sometimes the doctors

will start at a low dose and then if labs are normal, the dose will

be increased.

Some doctors are more aggressive than others. I am on a low dose

along with Enbrel only because every time they tried increasing my

dose, my liver enzymes elevated. Instead of decreasing the dose, they

discontinued it. My current rheumy started me on low dose and is

going to keep me on a low dose.

Stress is one of the worse things for RA, so please don't worry about

what tomorrow may bring. None of us know what tomorrow will bring.

I've spent to much of my life worrying about things that never

happened. I like to think that tomorrow will bring a new treatment or

new discoveries.
