Guest guest
I'm not gonna lie, running *can* be hard on the joints, but if you start out gradually it helps. My cardio level was pretty high when I started because I taught Turbo Kick, nonstop cardio for almost an hour while talking, etc. I ran 3 miles my first time. I was so happy! I stuck at that distance for several months though. When I ran 5 miles for the first time I cried I was so happy! 5 miles is now where I feel I'm just getting warmed up I really miss my 10 mile loop and hope to be there again after Kauai in prep for the 15K.Anyway, if you have the desire to run you should do it. The high is like no other and you burn LOTS of calories. Having good running shoes helps a lot.Hugs! It felt really great to be outside and moving. My plan for the 15K is to keep running 5 miles on the weekend and mid February make it 7 miles, then in March, my old 10 mile loop. I probably won't run another race until the Rum Run 10K later in the spring / early Every time I read about your runs I start thinking how I'd like to start it, but then I can come up with so many reasons why I can't do it. Maybe mentally I think I can't physically do it. I've talked to my DH in the past about it and he says that it's too hard on the body. Maybe he just doesn't want me out there.
