Hi Patience

I'd be glad to come along with you, just in the mood to see someone wish they had called in sick, lol.

Give me a call and we can arrange it.

Re: OT School Holidays

Vicky, Nina,

Doubt it will help, but why not contact Autism Anglia (who are the local charity to help those with autism and their families). I'd be very interested to hear their response, as they are holding an Open Day at Jeesal Cawston Park (near Aylsham) on 12 July, where we could ask questions (Vicky?.

We didn’t have a paediatrician for six years, but when we spent eight hours in A & E with Joe in handcuffs being guarded by two PCs, and then had to spend the night in a mental hospital 30 miles away because there were no beds anywhere else and the police wouldn’t let me take Joe home, a paediatrician was appointed. Luckily for us she’d been school doctor when my older son , who has AS, was at school and Joe was in nursery so she knew us all and knew I wasn’t someone who asked for help unless I was on my knees. It also helps that she has a son with AS herself. She’s mainstream in her medicine but very supportive in getting services. I haven’t seen her in over a year as she’s now off with stress ...

" Fortunately, Joe's paediatrician really fought for us, insisted we were put on a higher level of support and threatened to hold social work manager personally responsible if either or I were hurt as a result of Joe's assaults."Kath, I find it amazing that a professional stood up for you in this way. My experience has been that people avoid rocking the boat and that they will never say specifically what your child needs. (We don't even have a paediatrician who has followed his development, oh dear. He hasn't seen a paediatrician since 2009 and before that it was 2006.)Margaret

That sounds dreadful Nic, can do some damage if anyone gets in his line of fire, that's how it is for now at least.

Just got off the phone from runaround with local service that runs a holiday club, was sent all the way back to childrens services, jumped through all the hoops only for same person to tell me today all places were allocated already, why do I find that odd? Couldn't she have told me that in the first instance? Same place told me a couple of months ago that their fortnightly youth club was only for those with medical needs, but this isn't on their blurb and was only told to me once they knew who I was asking for. Why do I feel cherry picking is in the air?
