Guest guest Posted November 30, 2011 Report Share Posted November 30, 2011 I was rushing this morning (and now found I rushed too much because I have plenty of time before work) and was going to do Functionally Fit: Lower Body Firming on Kathy 's Yoga Sculpt DVD but couldn't seem to find the main menu for the workout. I was trying fast forward through her commercial for all her workouts and ended up in a sub-menu without realizing it. I didn't see the lower body workout on the menu and kept pushing buttons trying to find another menu but never did so, with it getting later I gave up and then went in search of a short lower body workout. I was just rushing and not thinking a lot, finally grabbed Weight Watchers Next Move ( Dozois) and did the 20 minute lower body workout on that. I think I've done it once before but didn't really remember it. It is forgettable too. It was okay, just definitely not great. I'm trying to put my finger on what I didn't like about it. I think it was too easy, with not enough reps but there was also too much upper body involvement. I know is big on combining upper & lower body movements and I like those workouts too but this is called "Lower Body Workout" and that's what I wanted... LOWER body. She made sure to do 2 sets of exercises specifically for shoulders and everything else was combined upper & lower. Having to do upper body exercises at the same time was distracting me from focusing on lower body plus, lunges are hard enough for me to keep my balance in but then she has you twisting your torso and moving your arms at the same time and it was just too much and my lower body form suffered so it was not as worthwhile. I tried taking the arms out but by then, since there are so few reps, she was done. So, while I really like the cardio workout on this DVD for a very quick burst of aerobics, I don't think I'll be using the lower body much more. Now I'm getting more comfortable with the Yoga Sculpt DVD. I put it in, FF through the commercial and somehow landed on the main menu! It looks totally different than the one I saw too. I put on the lower body workout and I think it is either the same as or very similar to Secrets of a Great Lower Body. According to the disk though, it appears to be 10 minutes shorter. I'll have to compare them sometime. I'm watching New Yoga Basics now. Kathy gives excellent form instruction. I'm going to have to try this one soon! There's also an intermediate/advanced routine on it too (New Yoga Challenge). The Functionally Fit: Lower Body Firming workout on it seems completely out of place though. Totally different set, different outfits, backgrounders (again, it all looks like Secrets of a Great Lower Body I think) and very traditional toning workout, definitely not yoga. I wonder why it was stuck on this disk? Weird but okay, whatever, I'm happy to have more workouts for one price (in this case, it was a trade)!
