Advocate newsletter. Please click on the titles listed in the side bars to take

you directly to the newly posted items on the HBV and HCV Advocate Websites.

> As you know May is Hepatitis Awareness Month and May 19th is World Hepatitis

Day. There will be many rallies and events during the month of May about viral

hepatitis. Probably the most important one is going to be held in Washington

D.C.:

> Raise your voice: Are you angry that the government hasn't taken viral

hepatitis seriously enough to fund it at an appropriate level? Do you want to

give a voice to the viral hepatitis movement? If so, join us in Washington D.C.

for a rally on May 19, 2010 to demand that Congress take notice and action of

viral hepatitis. It's time that we raise our voices and be heard. For more

information about the rally visit www.nvhr.org

> Spring is finally here and it's the perfect time to get outside, exercise, and

make your voice heard. World Hepatitis Day is on May 19, 2010 and I hope you

will join the hundreds of hepatitis advocates who will be in Washington D.C. to

> Exciting news was released today about the phase III studies of telaprevir

combination therapy.

> The top-line results released list a 75% SVR in the group that received 12

weeks of telaprevir/ Pegasys/ribavirin (triple combo) followed by 12 weeks of

Pegasys/ribavirin (without telaprevir) vs. a 44% SVR in the group that was

treated for 48 weeks with Pegasys/ribavirin (without telaprevir).

> In another arm of the trial, people who received just 8 weeks of triple

therapy followed by Pegasys/ribavirin achieved an SVR of 69%.

> See Vertex's press release for more information.

> We have also posted the Hepatitis Journal Review, our Weekly News Review, the

> Hello,

> In this week's Eblast we have some very exciting new postings.

> First is the updated HCV Drug Pipeline that has information on TMC 436, a HCV

protease inhibitor (in combination with pegylated interferon plus ribavirin)

that showed fantastic interim results in a phase II study.

> It will be interesting to see if the final results of this study show the same

trend. Of course, the study is too small to give us all the information we need

but hopefully this positive data will help to push the triple combo forward into

phase III study.

> Another noteworthy item we posted was an Action Alert to get people to contact

their representative to support an increase of up to $50 million for viral

hepatitis prevention. Make yourself heard and hopefully we can get more funding

for viral hepartitis.

> We also have our News Review that was posted on Saturday as well as many HCSP

Guides have been reviewed and updated to reflect the newest information about

our understanding of various topics.

> Sincerely,

> Alan
