I think I have this set of workouts too but I don't remember doing them. JenSubject: Kathy Secrets of a Great Lower BodyTo: exercisevideos Date: Wednesday, November 16, 2011, 10:59 AM

I did this one for the first time in, if my spreadsheet is right, over 3 years (eek) and did not remember it at all. This time, I put a good description in my spreadsheet along with the fact that I liked it. I messed up the spreadsheet big time last week, then got it mostly repaired but my workouts for instructors last name starting with S-Z had the dates too messed up so I deleted most of them and unmixed most of my comment off an old backup version of the file. This one had no comments in the backup, only a date from August 2008. Anyway, it was good for a day that I want an under an hour (40 minutes) lower body workout that will work me without killing me (a la Cathe). Very good for today actually. I have it on a DVD along with Secret Upper Body and Functional Fitness Peak Fat Burning (or something like that). I've done the cardio workout a lot but not the strength ones. Kathy refers to this as sculpting because she does 8-16 reps and toning to her (at the time this was done anyway) would be higher reps. She doesn't ever mention building muscle, just "sculpting" and that this is the only thing that changes muscle. I did not understand what toning supposedly did then but oh well. Her narratives were totally focused on appearance and nothing at all on functional strength or health which explains the wording, I think. She was extremely low key (especially compared with LWTLW) and most of the workout was done voice-over and some spoken. She had 4 backgrounders. One showed beginner modification and, the only male, showed the exercise done with dumbbells and ankle weights where appropriate. It was a mixture of floor and standing exercises. She worked one body part at a time with 1-3 or 4 different exercises, first showing exactly where on the body each was and then showing it done with and without a chair (where necessary) by models, then it would go into the actual group and her doing the exercise. Lots of good instruction and tips. For some, I used weights, for some I didn't. I do need to use ankle weights for some next time, I didn't get a lot out of the low reps with just body weight. I did squats and a few other things with 10s but would probably go up on those too. Others were plenty hard enough without additional weight though! I'll have to try Secrets of a Great Upper Body next week (the last time I did that was also August 2008 and I don't remember it either). I might try using my own music too. It was good having Kathy lower key (almost too low key but I'm not complaining) but the music was too low key too. It was good for a quiet mood, but if I'm up for something a little more rambunctious then I'll try something else. Good stuff though, I'm glad I did this one again!
