Hello there - I bet at least half of us reading your post will have

been nodding our head that we do or have done the same thing. I have

been banded nearly 11 months and I still have moments of semi binge

eating, but for some reason it is not the sweet stuff that draws me

in, but savoury. The band will not stop this and things like ice

cream, chocolate, potato chips go down a treat even when you have

high restriction. You obviously have high willpower to stay on

Optifast so long (I didn't even last 1 day) and you will need to use

some of that willpower when it comes to the crap foods. The band is

not a miracle cure for us, just a tool to help restrict our portions

(and believe me some of us like me can eat well more than our fair

share). I'm being a little blunt here but don't want you to get a

soft and fluffy version and think this is the be all and end all

solution, however I would highly recommend the band. I have lost

20kg in nearly a year - it was 22kg a few weeks ago but I am

currently gaining 1kg per week even with high restriction.

My only tip for stopping the binge eating after the band is fill up

on protein and other solid foods before you allow yourself to have

your chocolate or whatever. When your pouch is full of these sorts

of foods, you will not be able to get much of the other in.

Good luck with it, don't be afraid to post and ask questions and I

think you will find that not one of us on this board has any regrets

about our decisions. It does have it's up and downs but it is a

wonderful beast and I am sure you won't have any regrets either.

Cheers
