Hi Kassia,

You and your family are in my prayers! I'm sorry to hear about your DH's illness. ((HUGS))

You are a true inspiration to deal with all that and still get a 4.0 this semester!Donna

Hey group! School is well, family life is not so much. I am not sure if other members on my FB account kept you up to speed, but my husband was diagnosed with Leukemia a few months ago. We are just dealing with all the crap from that. We had lots of blessings from his job to make a great Christmas, and while his dad and I are not exactly on friendly terms, we did get along for the Christmas Eve feast. We are just trying to make the most of some ugly things coming at us. Whatever you do, can you keep a prayer, a thought, or whatever that things will move smoothly right now. I believe this works b/c we didn't lose him (this type of leukemia can kill u in 3-4 weeks without treatment and we have had complications from the last cycle of chemo he had) so I just want him(and myself) to focus on the treatments and school and that everything else will workout for the best. I hope you all had a great holiday and wishing all you a healthy and

prosperous New Year! I put myself back to emails so I can try to catch up again. Hopefully the upcoming semester won't bog me down again LOL. This last semester smacked me real good at the end with a ton of papers and projects to get done, not to mention the amount of studying for finals. These were the hardest finals thus far (mostly short answer fill in or essay format, very minimal on the multiple choice); I did get my 3rd 4.0 semester average though, so the hard work payed off. Now to wonder for today's workout. I am pending Firm Express Sculpt adding on abs or stretch or just going with a longer barre workout. I don't know, coffee hasn't hit me quite yet LOL<3 Kassia

Thank you all!School wasn't to bad b/c the first 45 days he had to stay at the hospital and it helped to keep me busy. I actually brought him in for a presentation I did for a general medical project, the professor was just awesome with the dialogue we had. History was my worst class b/c of his expectations for a gen. ed class, and I get to take him for another semester UGH! I love school though and will hopefully be able to keep it on until I finish my bachelors. They are talking about a physicians assistant program at our school, and that is something I have become highly interested in. My Athletic Training professor really talked a lot about it and pushed some of us to consider it. DH is trying to hang in, but they do say if the cancer doesn't get you the chemo will. We hope to have a date for stem cell

transplant for spring. I am hopeful with this procedure based on a numerous studies out there. He also has something called Philadelphia Chromosome and not sure if that is a the cause (b/c it is for chronic myeloid leukemia) or caused by the acute lymphocytic leukemia. I hope to get the money nightmare over with though. I don't want to get to detailed, and we are certainly not the worst case scenario, but it was just hard to deal with during the holidays. Splitting up the workouts today, so I hope to finish the Marisa Tomei workout. I started the 20 minute segment and it wasn't bad . KASSIAwife,mother,student,kettlebellehttp://ldysolana.blogspot.com

Hi Kassia,So hard to deal with at any time, especially the holidays. I just wanted to share that my friend has had two rounds of chemo for her stage IV ovarian cancer. While it has been really tough, she is almost finished with this second round (after a recurrence), and her doctors say her tumors are gone and she has a very good prognosis. We are all ecstatic about that.

I know it's not the same cancer, but I wanted to share a good story about chemo. I hope your DH gets the best care and the best results from all of the treatments.

My sis had ovarian cancer as well, she never told anyone though. I think she didn't want everybody falling over her. The issue we sustained lately is he lost his 2nd job b/c of this, and his sick time will run out soon (he only gets 3/4 pay) so we have the house on the market for shortsale. I hate moving and the $$ makes me worried. His 1st job at the college has been a godsent though. They really helped us with things Viola needed and even got her a new bike for Christmas (b/c some jerk in the 'hood stole her other one!!!). I am hoping this cycle wasn't as bad as the last time. He is getting a different drug this time around b/c the last one they did caused a pretty bad case of thrush that he had to be hospitalized b/c the inflammation was causing breathing problems. Some of this he is going to have to

come to terms with. He can't let this beat him, some of this is mental too. My dad had lymphoma and his attitude was awe inspiring and I think that is why he lived 3 years past the limit they gave him. I know it's in there for DH too. His family isn't much help though, they all come out of the wood work after 13 years of having nothing to do with us, and want to disrupt his family. We can't have that with Viola and her autism. So there has been some drama, but I can be a nasty person so they all have backed off for now after I told them exactly what I thought of their behavior and their lip service to me. After 13 years not even a phone call and they want to rush down here made him feel like he was dying. He didn't like that attention and wish ppl would back off and let him deal with what he has to face. Some were pretty rude to me which upset him further, I don't need a reason to answer my phone, I was in school all day, doing laundry and

housework and homework by night (both Viola's and mine LOL). I was trying not to bring him in on it, but they turned around and called/texted him like a bunch of babies. I am just truckin' on like always b/c somebody has to keep this operation going LOL. I am surely hoping by the time the New Year rings in we will have everything fall into place. There has to be a reason why we go through this struggle. I can understand your sister's and husband's reaction - you want to make life as normal as possible and if people are not acting what is "normal" for them around you - well, then you don't feel normal! :) hope that made sense.

I'm with you this week and doing "whatever" workouts, I need a break - just happy to have a few days off this week and be out of the routine a little bit.

((HUGS)) for you, your DH and Viola,

Donna

He doesn't want to be the vehicle to ease their own guilt. If they want to do anything then they should pray or something, not rush down here. If they bother to google, you can find information on the treatments and realize he doesn't need 20 people staring at him. During treatments he isn't up all that much anyway, so why bother him when he should rest? They are just ignorant on the disease and the treatments and refuse to get educated, yes it's serious, but let's not act like he is dying.
