My DH & my son both gifted me with fitness presents this Christmas! From DH I got a 6 pack of wicking athletic socks (mine are all falling apart but I haven't felt like buying new ones, I wouldn't have bought that many but I guess it means doing less laundry) and a new exercise tank top! It doesn't wick but since I'm mostly inside it will be okay. I have 2 and got them both when I did the 3-Day in 2004. I got serious about exercise in 2006 and they're very well-worn, especially my turquoise one. This one is the same color and my daughter was thrilled he got it for me, "Mom, I've seen your other blue one, it needed to be replaced!" :-) My son bought me an ab roller!! He knew I worked out today and wanted to know if I'd used it and I promised I would try it tomorrow. Anyone know of a workout video that includes an ab roller??

I gave DH the book Prayfit too... he was reading it earlier and seems to like it. We'll see what he does with it though. I'm just trying to be encouraging and helpful without being pushy and intrusive and it seemed to come across that way to him so that's good too.

I think I'll go search online for ideas for using the ab roller. I haven't used one in years and years. My parents had one, I'm not sure why, I don't remember either of them ever using it, but I do remember it being very tough to use (my sister and I used to play with it). Should be interesting!

What great gifts. I got money for Christmas so I started looking at workouts to buy, but can't seem to find anything that looks good enough. I don't know of any workouts that uses the ab roller. I wonder if you could use it along with a regular ab workout? The wicking socks are EXCELLENT!  Even on sale they can be 10 bux a pair - I use them exclusively for running. There are 2 vhs tapes I know of for the ab roller, but I'm sure you can find some free workouts on YouTube.  The ab roller is hard!  Really your workout could be three sets of 10 and that would be plenty!

Let us know how you use it / what you do!xoxo

I know he got the socks and top at Target and I know he knew not to spend much money so I don't think these are really good ones. The ones I have (that are falling apart) were mostly $7-$10 a pair (bought them for the 3-Day eons ago now to help prevent blisters) and there's no way he spent $50 or more on socks! We'll see how they are though, I appreciate just having new socks, no matter how good, they'll be better than socks with holes! :-)

I just went looking on the net for ab roller stuff and got some good ideas. We're watching The Polar Express (I'm half-watching) now too so I don't want to do YouTube videos tonight but I did glance at one and bookmarked it. I'm expecting it to be a very definite challenge! I'll give it a try tomorrow as part of my upper body workout.

You don't need to do the workout along the YouTubes but you can write down the exercises and create your own workouts to your own music - that's what I do!  Just how I " roll " bad pun,

Bad pun, but it made me smile anyway! I wasn't planning to follow the YouTube video I saw (it was just instructional) but hadn't thought about writing down the exercises and creating my own workout to my own music. That's a good idea. Will search for more workout ideas probably after I actually try to use it tomorrow. I just want to try it out a little tomorrow, not do a real workout with it (of course, rolling it a couple of times might be a real workout). Thanks for the ideas!

  • 2 weeks later...

>Anyone know of a workout video that

> includes an ab roller??

hi nancy! there are no 'workout videos' that use an ab roller

that i know of! but im sure that by now you have watched some

instructionals, which is very important.

i have had a couple of different rollers... one style was way

too hard and i could not have any kind of good form with it...

the one i have now has a supportive base on it so it is

easier...lol. i will have to take a picture of it for you so

you can see what i mean. i wonder what kind you have? it is

just a wheel with handles?

i havent used that thing in a long time... you have inspired me!

especially since im supposed to be working my abs more this

month. ive been trying to do pushups instead but had to wimp out

today because i have a pinch in the upper body right :(

oh well there is always tomorrow... i promise to get the ab wheel

out. maybe we can work at it together. laura has one, maybe we

can get her to join us... :) :)

:*carolyn.
