Sebine I am from Australia, right back to the convicts!@!!!! My

grandfather loved Ingrid Bergman and that's where the Ingrid came from.

I haven't got a date yet for my op, I have to have a gastroscopy first

(routine) and that is booked for the 6th Feb and then I was told 2 weeks

after that I will have the op. I am around 98kg at the moment. When is

your op date? Yes, this will be the year. I am really excited about it

all, even although at first I was stressed but I am glad I had some time

to think and find out information about it that the Dr didn't tell me.

This is going to be a great life changing event (I hope) and we are

going to be fantastic Sebine. Ingrid

Sabine, yes keep in touch. We might be able to talk after we have had

this done, might need encouragement ha ha. I am looking forward to it

too. All my life I have been dieting and then eating to much and dieting

again. Yo Yo in every sense. I had never considered surgery as I always

thought it would be classed as cosmetic and not covered by my

healthfund. I only found out a couple of months ago that it is covered

and are so excited. I must admit I am going to make the most of

Christmas...eat whatever I like. I am getting my husband to take me out

to a beautfiul restaurant for my birthday which is at the end of this

month as it might be my last opportunity so are making the most of

it.....is this normal behaviour ?? Everytime I ever started a diet I

would eat lots of naughty food the day before, this is probably similar

thinking this time....

Hi Ingrid,

Yes it is normal behavior, I am the same. I don't care much about what I eat.

Hahaha....The worst is I brought a bike, because I got a Labrador pup, and he cant get enough exercise,so I thought, well I don't like walking, I ride a bike. I grew up on a bike. Well years and years ago. Anyway out the dog and the new bike, and what happened, I could not even make it to the corner of the street (SHORT STREET) .How unfit !!!

And this little saddle, ouch ... But I didn't gave up, and tonight I was able to make 2 rounds around the whole block.

Wow I feel good. So I keep going. Every day a bit more. I would not do it for myself, I know the dog needs it(well I even more) but it is great.

Think about Valentines Day, that is the day I set with my hubby and friends to go out. Maybe you still can make it as well....ha hah see who gets done first. Let me know your date as soon you know.

Have a nice time Sabine

Yes Sabine just one day before you. I have to have a gastroscopy on the

6 Feb and I am more worried about that than the banding. I am excited

about the band and just hate the wait, wish it would all be over and I

can begin my journey etc. I have never had an op before except a D & C so

an a little nervous about that part of it. How are you going? Are you

nervous or excited. Do you have to do optifast? Can't wait to get on

here again once it is all done and see how your going....we will

probably both have heaps of questions to ask once we have had it

done...... Ingrid

Hi Ingrid,

why do you have to have a gastrscopy and what is it for if you don't mind asking.

Has it something to do with getting banded?

Sabine, a gastroscopy is when they put a tube down your throat into your

stomach and it has a little camera on the end of it. They look around

down in the stomach and can see it on a screen at the same time they

move the camera around. The Dr I am having for the band does this as his

normal proceedure just to make sure there arn't any hernias, or anything

like that and if there is at least he is aware of anything before he

does the band.. I don't know if many Dr's do this or not. It is just a

day surgery op. I am more nervous about the gastroscopy than I am about

getting the band!!!! Ingrid

Hiya Ingrid

That is the right mind set - you will miss not being able to put anything and everything in your mouth - but you will be all the better for it. I might not be able to put most things in comfortably, but now I can manage most things if I take fairy bites or chew something and then spit it out to get the flavour.

Also hasn't stopped me from putting my foot in my mouth – I told my Dr the next time he sees me I will be 15kg lighter. He is `quoting' me on it and so I will be in big trouble if I don't deliver. So I am madly sucking on Tony Ferguson shakes, going to move on to Optifast after these are finished (think they are better) and to get me there. Not just for him, for me and my holiday in a few weeks time. I wouldn't have a snowballs chance in hell of loosing a couple of kilos let alone several kilos pre band.

And esentially regardless, you are having this op for yourself. If you think about it, who would do this to themselves just for someone else? No, its yourself first, it has to be.
