I'm still recovering from surgery and trying to get used to the fact that I must take 14 meds every night before bed. Last week my son became ill (he is 11 months old). I let it go for a few days but when the fever got up to 104 I brought him to the ER. After our second visit to the ER he was transferred to the local ICU with a temp that fluctuated up and down and all the way up to 105.3...None of the docs could figure out what was going on. Two days later he was transported by ambulance to the Pediatrics Hospital Wing of Fletcher Healthcare in Burlington VT. after spending about 24 hours here they came up with the diagnosis of Atypical Kawasaki's Disease. Last night he went through a Blood transfusion and will continue aspirin therapy and antibiotics as heart damage can occur from the disease. We are currently waiting for him to undergo an ECHO on his heart. If all goes well (and he has gotten much better since the transfusion) the we will be going home tomorrow or Sunday.
