Guest guest
Hiya I never asked them if they cover the band or related conditions - because frankly there shouldn't be any 'problems' as such. If you are going o/s I would advise that you get your band fill slightly loosened so you dont have to worry about getting things blocked and then be aware of what you put in your mouth - like you normally do. Now when I went to Hawaii I used cover more, and I listed my recent surgeries including my lap band and it was accepted. I think sometimes pointing out to them that you have it - and usually they have no idea what it is - makes the knock it back from the start. Usually you have a clerk that doesn't know or understand and will knock you back just because its out of their range. I go to Hawaii in March and I will be using another travel insurer that is cheaper - they are called http://www.columbusdirect.com.au/ - Cherie uses this agent and they have covered her so I am sure we will be fine! In all honesty, you fill out your form and state the fact you have this band, then it goes in to them and they will process it. Once they have the form and they research it, you will in all likelihood find you are covered. Plus there is really no reason why you will have anything go 'wrong' with the band. I have had a band and travelled o/s, no problems. I would recommend that you have a little less fill so you can enjoy your food, but then be careful. Obviously dont go eating pasta and bread etc. Stick with the easy foods, have things that you know you can eat – and it is hard when you are out and a sandwich is an easy option. Well do that, but only eat the filling or have a hot chocolate and then have some soup or something you know all those little tricks we tend to acquire along the journey. Mostly tho enjoy yourself and with all the extra walking and moving about you tend to do on holidays you will find that you will either maintain or even loose weight.
