Hi

I am not too sure about first bite syndrome either, simply because to me my band is different to me every day. Like today, normally I can't drink until later in the day; well I drank over a litre before I left home this morning. I was thirsty and now I am hungry and I am eating my crackers with ham – something I can't contemplate until 11 on a usual day. Also I shouldn't be able to have calamari – my surgeon is horrified that I eat it. But its one of my cravings and I enjoy it often. So its one rule for some, another for the rest of us and its about working that out as best we can.

Anyway with your tablets, can you take them a little later in the day? Sometimes the stomach will just not accept anything early morning and so it's just a case of waiting a bit later. Check that with your Dr, because sometimes you need to make sure that is okay first.

Hi ,

Thanks for making me feel better :-)

It's good to know that there are more people on the same roller

coaster ride...

I will discuss it with my doc tomorrow morning and find out what he

thinks - maybe I'm just overly anxious? Will have to find a solution

for the tablets though. At present I'm taking them in the evening but

the problem persists :-(

Well, at least I can't complain that my life is boring.

One more question: hoe long did it take until you were allowed to do

some exercise ? I never would have thought this would happen to me

but I'm keen on going back to the gym and on the treadmill (mind you,

I haven't been there for months !!!). And I really miss the Pilates

class - although I'm not quite sure if my tummy muscles are up for

that yet.

Cheers,

Hi

You are best to ask your surgeon, but at least if you can take the tablet at any time, during the middle of the day would be best. I find that the middle of the day is my 'window of opportunity' with food and liquid and tablets seem to go down the best then too. Anxiety will also cause you to close up. I was back at work yesterday and I had heartburn, anxiety and felt so glum. Today was much better and I haven't been able to get enough fluids in to make up for it.

Most surgeons recommend that you not resume exercise for about 6 weeks and then take it slowly back from then. You might want to see about Pilates, because that will concentrate on the stomach muscles and they are the ones that are going to be the sorest. You might want to give it a miss for a little bit and then maybe start back on the next class in a few weeks time with that to give yourself the best possible healing time.
