Guest guest
Aloha,It's rare that amazing things happen TWICE in her week... :)Yesterday, I was invited to a book (stories SPED students wrote) reading party in Aubrey's classroom. She wrote a great book about her Project Focus experience! Parents got to read the students' creations and write positive comments about them which was shared with each writer...Aubrey later dragged me off to her mainstream PE class where I discovered that she is a lot smaller than most of her typical peers. She was sitting on a scooter disk with four wheels-scrambling madly all over the gym floor like a crab-with at least 30 other eighth graders wildly waving a plastic hockey stick trying to hit a little plastic ball. Aubrey blended in so well, I had a hard time finding her amongst the group! The PE teacher tells the typical students (in every class) that Aubrey must get at least ONE touch on the ball before they can try to score a goal...and then, right in front my eyes-guess WHO scores one?! Miss Aubrey! So of course, yet another one of those "too-wide Mommy smiles" flashes as this skeptic witnesses the now joyous crustaceans flying around the floor high-fiving each other!!! Way too sweet! Sometimes you just gotta have Faith in the human race... Thought this might bring some smiles to some other Mommy's faces here... :DGrateful for some much-needed positivity these days,Desi
