Guest guest
Been looking into the ipad for my son and thinking of saving money for it. Problem we experience with him (he's 5) is absolutely nothing motivates him. So, even using things that would be most motivating for him and we know he wants, he will just give up. No speech (although he used to), won't let us know when he wants anything and would actually starve/thirst before trying to communicate by any simple means. A lot of this is behavioral although I don't know to what extent. If I offer something like ice cream/chocolate which he really wants, he'll do some heavy duty charming and/or then turn to trying to hurt me and/or just give up and walk away altogether. My point in trying to explain all of this is because no matter what we get him he'd rather just waive a toy on his face or chew on it. If we introduce new things he just walks away, even with our computer at home -whether to play a kid's game or show him a new cartoon just for fun. Does anyone think that an ipad still may help? I'm getting desperate to reach my boy again and I've heard good things, but with the way he is, I think he'll just do what he normally does, walk away. When it's anything we try to show him, he seems to show even less interest in it. I've got tons of therapist/teachers and we're still trying to figure this kid out. Any similar stories? Any votes on the ipad for him?
