Guest guest
I think dealing with a child with special needs is a day by day process. Depending on the day you will need a different set of coping skills. Above all you will need a good sense of humor, and give yourself permission to not be perfect. If he is going to be with you for an extended time, definitely look into respite. Actually even if he is only going to be with you for short periods but continuing into the future look into respite. It can make a world of difference. Also some research into autism and sensory programs might help in understanding where he is coming from. If you have specific problems this group is a great resource. I have found that usually I can get answers within hours from the supermoms here.
