Guest guest
Hi Everyone....Joan....we learned in Oct just how bad vertigo could be, along with Gareth's Orthostatic hypotension. Gareth had to have Mastoid surgery on his left ear and the doc never said he'd have vertigo from it, or the Tylenol with codeine or Percoset, for that matter. He was dropping/falling/passing out completely for almost 3 weeks before we got him in to the ER for a possible seizure. That's when the docs got together and put 1 + 1 = 2 together!!! They put him in the hospital for 3 days, on IV antibiotics, and got his blood pressure figured out. He's now on a med to stabilize the BP, which does seem to be working. His BP is still low (100/60) but it's no longer dropping to 70/48 when he stands up. As for being out and about in the community, Gareth has shut down on that aspect. He's turned into a homebody who prefers to stay home *by 'self, Mom. (I'm) In charge*. He's good for an hour or two by himself but I worry the whole time. He does work at SKILLS (W, Th & F) when he's healthy.....9 - 2:30. Part of me would love to see him in an apartment but, in reality, he's got so many medical issues that I doubt * I * would be comfortable with it. I wish you and Andy better health.....and, please, chime in more often!!! Take care, Everyone.
