Figuring out what is going on with these kids is like trying to be a fortune teller etc . I am glad to hear he is feeling better. There is really no telling how many times are kids are dizzy, sleepy, see things etc from meds they take. Vertigo is no fun that is for sure. I am giving you Gareth a cyber hug right now. After his last drug reaction (created a call to 911... I couldn't wake him up after I stopped his med ) It was the only med he had in his system, but his body wouldn't let it go. He was overdosing on 5 mg!! This test removed my panic at facing another surgery with a kid who couldn't tolerate any meds that we knew of. Genelex has a DNA Drug Sensitivity Test, (sorry kids; testing is from blood work). This testing determines your genetic ability to process most commonly prescribed medicines and will not change in your lifetime. Luca has a card similar to an insurance card that we share with all of his healthcare providers. This information is reviewed anytime medication changes are considered to help select the safest and most effective drug and dose for him. Some drugs do not work for some people. Drug doses need to be high enough to fight a specific disease but low enough to avoid causing serious side effects. Large changes in the amount of the drug in your bloodstream can be cause by genetics, prescriptions and non-prescription (over-the-counter), herbal products, or food. This is called a " drug interaction. " A software link listed on your card allows your healthcare provider to determine which medication changes are least likely to cause drug interactions for you. Drug-gene tables are also provided to you which contain an abridges list of medications which you may have problems with at standard doses.
