Guest guest
Whatever happen to their oath??? One of the girls got sick three Christmas's ago and I called the Dr. to get her in as she had a fever of over 103. Thier response, I needed to call billing! I asked what does billing got to do with her being seen? The girls parents had filed bankruptcy and the lawyer told them they had to put all bills in that they owed. Well they had given the peds. Dr. bill also, but then had it paid off since they gave it to her. Well since there name was included in the bankruptcy, Even though it was paid, they were no longer welcomed back! So we ended up taking her to ER. Take Care! Hugs Helen Oops, didn't I 'mention' that I was nolonger a patient a this clinic? The Docsaid they'd call in a refill, IF I payed an outstanding balance of $70.55,as I owed them for one missed appoitment, and several prescription refills,=phoned in for $15 each time.Evidently my medicaid didn't 'cover' these charges. Then they basically sai=d, "Adios...have a nice life."No freebees there apparently...End of story. Meanwhile on to the nextcrisis. Will post on that soon, if sleep doesn't overtake me first...Sorry to sound all mean and snappy.I must have been a snarly little dogin a previous life!Marina I may never see tomorrow; there's no written guarantee, And things that happened yesterday belong to history!!! Guest guest
colette hope you don't mind me jumping in too. my son at 3 1/2 is also a very visual learner. and a couple of things hit home with me. he will stop doing whatever it is when he gets something wrong. he is amazing at spelling and will spell out colors upon demand but after he got a couple right, i asked him to spell green...he started __erg going backwards and got confused and refused to stay with what we were doing because he knew he was wrong and he couldn't tell me. it's almost kind of scary that he can spell but can't put 2 or 3 words together. i'm starting to think maybe hyperlexic or asperger's although no one can diagnose. i have been to several dev ped and neurologists. has great eye contact and has a very good sense of humor. he will sometimes even mouth a word with no sound. he sometimes bites the inside of his mouth or tounge when chewing and says " boo-boo " . what gets me is that he has all of this knowledge inside of him and he can't speak too well. has maybe 200+ words now. up from 2 words in december, so trust me i'm not complaining. also, has anyone had problems with brushing the teeth? he sometimes lets me do it, other times out and out refuses and still other times only wants to do it himself. he just tried a cold italian ice for the first time and said " more " . usually doesn't eat anything cold. we went through the different formulas too and he is allergic to gluten so i have him on the gluten free/casein free diet and we have done well on it. alittle bumpy ride in the beginning, but once you get the diet down pat, it's much easier. sorry so long, but if anyone has experienced the same please write. thanks lori- mom to anthony 3 1/2 hydrocephalus, vp shunt and apraxic??? autistic???pdd???? Guest guest
Your welcome, Hope the information we share are a starting point for understanding and coping with some of your challenges. I've learned that for my son there are ways of reducing certain problems and nuturing both development and learning. Trying to understand his presence of day- to-day structure and routine because I notice he'll have difficulty switching between equally functional ways of going about an activity. The best knowledge would be what you gain from experience with your own son. The wealth of resources within this group is a Blessing for my son and my family, as progress has shown. Its still a bumpy road but its a lot better than when nothing was being done and I saw my sons future totally deteroiating when no one agreed or saw that he was not learning, behavior issues were not being addressed, very picky eater, not socializing, not playing, not verbal....zippo, not toilet- trained, etc. Everytime I would take him to any Ped. Doc, I was told to expect this was a down syndrome thing for 12 years. Thank God for Saint Joan's newsletter! It was the key to my prayers. My son will be 15 y/o this coming July and so far knock on wood has shown some great progress. On that day I'm going to rent a inflateable Moonwalk and let him jump all he wants. I would say no B-day party but then my family and friends always like hanging around us and I know once we all gather it becomes an event. : ) So, this is one of the reasons why I enjoy sharing any info, if it would help others. When deep in your heart you feel that its not what you want to hear from SOME medical & educational professionals I know that they have not walked in our shoes and do not know our children but they will when we get educated and learn from our child and our rights. Which I am still learning and it has made a difference. Back to Luca, ask away and always share too, as you will make a difference for any of our fellow e-buddies as many of our kids are unique but it helps that we are not alone. Love the scooter, the ball, etc., glad to hear he is enjoying them. Great job mom and dad! Do read on the sensory issues so that it could help you avoid the future behavior issues that will kick in as you already have observed Luca trying you all out with his stubborn moods and he will become an expert but there are activites to work around it. This I know, because as I had mention before what memories on what you are experiencing. Many hugs! Irma,14,DS/ASD
Guest guest
me, too vikki... sounds like we have the exact same things.. RA, sjogrens and fibromyalgia... uggghh... i will see the rheummy on the 25th of this month for the first time... rae [ ] Vikki Vikki, How is Dr. S. working out for you?? I like him because he doesn't give up and he keeps trying to find the right course for you and with you. He allows me to be involved with the process, which I like and find rarely!! I am one to take charge of my medical care. Many doc's are turned off by this and want nothing to do with you, but not Dr. S. My family doc doesn't like me coming in already knowing what is going on and what is wrong. If I do go see him, I have learned to play dumb. If I don't, it will take at least 2-3 visits before I get what I already know I need!!! Hope things work well for you.....Marina
Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome Marina. I am happy to have found people who know what dealing with RA is like. Maybe I can get my family to read some of the posts. Sue, have you always been on Enbril or have you tried other medication? I don't mind being infused every 8 weeks rather than injecting myself every week like I used to do although the injection only took a few seconds. I am being treated with Remicade now and I look forward to my infusion time. This window of time is actually the longest continuous time I get to devote to me. Kim, please be careful if you go back on Plaqunil. I know if you continue to use it you should have your eyes checked every 6 months. The injections you asked about could be different things. I took my RA medication (Humira) by injecting myself once a week. I also know that Prednisone can be given by injection. I don't know much abut Enbril but I think that is a twice a week injection. All are RA treatments. Hugs, Pat

Guest guest
Marina, I worked in the medical field for a long time. Surely, you do realize that You being sick that everyone could care less at work. That is the way the medical field works. There is no nurse shortage. Nurses and other medical personnel have to work long hours, be treated like crap. They cripple you up and throw you out. That way, they can pay someone else less money. You know how it works. Not to discourage, by no means or be mean...these are just the facts. Tami Tami -Dossey
