That being said, the psych doc just called me back and wants him back on Risperdal, at night, to see if it helps with the severe anxiety attacks that always come on at 4 or 5:00 am. She doesn't want to try any other new meds till we figure out what's going on. Liz.....does Dr Capone know of any Adult DS docs that are following our kids with all their health/mental issues? Guest guest Posted October 1, 2011 Report Share Posted October 1, 2011 Margaret, I am glad that at least you can start up the risperdal- but what a nightmare!!! Oh my goodness. I just spent a fruitless half hour going in circles on the Adult DS Clinic's Facebook Page. I know you aren't on Facebook, but I thought there was a way to contact the Drs. there via email. I don't see any way to do this, unless you post a question on their Discussion page- but there doesn't seem to be much traffic there at all. So I don't think that is the likely place to have enough of an audience to get anyone to respond. I am thinking of one psychologist here who has worked closely with the psychiatrists. She is with the new Columbus Adult DS Clinic, and she comes from the Dual DX clinic, so she belongs to the NADD As well. ( http://www.thenadd.org/index.shtml ) National Association for persons with Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health Issues) I can contact her via email, I think, and send her your post. I know the psychiatrist that now treats Pete is good with Dual DX as well, but he does not take emails and is not really approachable for questions outside of office visits relating to his patients. Unfortunately, the new Columbus Adult DS Clinic is currently on follow-along basis only- no treatments. They just opened in the past year, and have talented people, so I am hoping it will expand to treatment over time. Hopefully Dr. Capone will come up with some help. Thank God he is approachable!
