Guest guest
ndale Village, Suwannee, GA http://www.annandale.org Elwyn School and residential, Elwyn, PA (near MEdia). www.elwyn.org Elie attended their day school program from 15-20. He LOVED this place. I - not so much. Very segregated. But their behavior program was wonderful for Elie - he felt loved and comfortable there. There is also a residential component. Again - I didn't like it, just a feeling of discomfort - nothing specific. Camphill programs - all over the country. Some have elementary thru collegae age programs as well as adult residential life. http://www.camphill.org/ (Must say I was very impressed with their school age program. WElie and i went to visit a few time. It is very gentle, academic and arts, but for some reason Elie was very uncomfortable there. Devereaux programs - nationwide. www.devereux.org There is a program in PA that I am familiar with. Gentle approach used, but I found the school program accutely depressing. And I didn't see much learning. However, they do take kids with the most distrubing behaviors. Do the kids improve? I am not sure. They have residential programs as well. I am familiar with the one in Georgia - mostly the teen girls component - I liked that program for girls with ID/DD plus acting out behaviors. Loved the campus. > ** > > > Do we have a list or anything with all the names and locations of schools > like Melmark? > > I really think it would be beneficial for all of us as our kids are aging > to know where these schools are. Haven't visited any and one is still in the beginning stage, but here are 2 other websites to look at. Openculture.com Goldenheartranch.org Sent on the TELUS Mobility network with BlackBerry Schools like Melmark Do we have a list or anything with all the names and locations of schools like Melmark? I really think it would be beneficial for all of us as our kids are aging to know where these schools are. So, I am happy to start the list if everyone starts letting me know what schools you know of. Thanks Holly
Guest guest
If there is a Camphill School near you, I would check it out when he is this age. I loved the feel and the curriculum and the life. Too bad Elie didn't :`( > ** > > > I've been keeping a list of places I hear about or read about. Darwyn's > only 7, but I want to know what's out there.
