Guest guest
Hi, Everyone........welcome to the group. My son is Gareth, 23 y/o, with DS/ASD/OCD. Ask all the questions you want.....someone has probably been down that road and can offer some advice. Gareth was around 6 y/o when we got the official * A * dx.....I, too, cried for days even though I had been told for a year or two before that he was probably autistic. I need some advice/help from some nurses. We just got back from a visit to the 3rd Immunologist....this is the top dog. They all said Gareth is a candidate for these IvG infusions because of his frequent pneumonias, MBL deficiency, IgG 2 and IgG 4 deficiencies. My surprise is that this doc asked me if I am willing to learn to do IV's, once a week, at home, on Gareth. My responce was *NO....I'm Mom.* On the two hr drive home, I got to thinking....how hard is it? I know that he's a very hard stick for the IV nurses because his veins are deep and roll. Is this really something I would want to consider, or should I continue to play Mom? The other choose is whether to do it once a week or once a month. Thanks for you help. You can email me privately if you want, just put something in the subject line about it so it doesn't get tossed into Spam. Take care, Everyone.
