Camp is run by the NJ Elks. Special needs children throughout NJ have an opportunity to attend Camp for one week in the summer at no cost to the family. was sponsored at the beginning of this year by the Livingston Elks and we are so grateful for their generosity and kindness to us. Jim and I were unsure how was going to adapt to his first overnight experience away from home and as you can imagine, we did not sleep very much this past Sunday evening, his first night away. We thought for sure the phone was going to ring at some point and had cell phones and our land line on full volume all week, but so far so good!! We just received our first communication a few hours ago from 's counselor, Hannah Dawson, a lovely young woman from England who loved from the moment she met him last Sunday afternoon. We thought you would enjoy Hannah's report and the attached pictures. It was so strange not to hear anything since Sunday but apparently is having so much fun with Hannah and other new friends, there has been no time to check-in until today. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for (and his somewhat sleepless Mom and Dad, lol !!) that all would go well for him this week at Camp . As usual, continues to exceed our expectations in his own time (not ours) and is having a blast! What a great birthday gift for , on the eve of his 8th birthday and for Jim and me too. He has been eating well for breakfast he has his cheerios and depending what we are having for lunch & dinner he will either have the food you brought or camp food. Last nigth we had the local fire engines come up to camp and hose us all it was so much fun would of been happy to stay there all night.
