Guest guest
<<Celiac disease causes damage to the small intestine which is where the enzyme for breaking down lactose is produced so there can be problems with digesting dairy.>> Hi, Everyone....I want to add some medical advice given to me years ago. CD causes the cilia in the duodenum to shrink...hense, causing health issues. That is why they tell you to have the Endoscopy/biopsies before starting the diet, so that they can see the damage.. Once on the diet, the intestine does repair itself. The damage is not permanent and doesn't, on it's own, justify dropping dairy products unless the child is also lactose intolerant. Perhaps, Dr Avery will chime in to see if my memory is correct!!! Take care, Everyone. Margaret Mm to gareth, 23 y/o, DS/ASD/OCD
