Guest guest
, this is so scary! I stumble and stagger EVERY time I get out of a car. You should see me when I get up in the morning or even get out of a chair I've been in for over 20 minutes. It's like I have to convince my brain to start listening to my legs and make them work. I'm going to be praying for you. I hope a note from your doctor can clear things up. I hope you have a rheumatologist who takes fibromyalgia seriously and understands its problems. HEY EVERYBODY--Please keep me in prayers. I am leaving for a family reunion in Texas today and have a 20-hour drive ahead of me. I have a comfortable van in which I can change position often and we'll stop frequently. I don't look forward to my entire extended family seeing me like I look now. Most of them haven't seen me since I've been on prednisone and my face doesn't look like it used to. Sometimes I look in the mirror and wonder who that puffy chick is staring back at me. I've also gained weight because I haven't been moving like I used to. I know my appearance is going to startle some people and they won't know what to say to me. This disease and its remedies have aged me mercilessly. The reunion is to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of when my great-great grandparents settled on a piece of land that is still in the family. Some of the family will be camping on it but I got a hotel room--Can you see me sleeping on the ground??? I also have to keep myself from having " Good Sport Syndrome " . I'm usually the one who jumps in and help clean up, help with the kids, etc. It's going to be hard being the one who lets other people do the work. My family is warm and supportive, but they do tend to think they can fix things with advice. I'm sure I'll get loads of, " I think you'd be okay if you...... " and then if you explain that you tried that and it didn't work they'll think you're just making excuses. I also won't be able to check my e-mail very often!!!! Oh NO!!! E-mail withdrawal!! The rest of you are probably saying, " PHEW!! now some of us can get a word in edgewise. " I know I post long and often (I check e-mail, like, three times a day) but I felt so isolated before and am so happy to have someone listening who understands. It's funny because I didn't even have e-mail before I joined this group and now it's a huge part of my coping strategy. Also pray for me because this morning I have an appointment with my rheumatologist, Dr. Jerkhead (fibromyalgia-is-a-mental-illness-and-pain-pills-are-for-wussies). I haven't seen him since he had it out with my husband after blackmailing me with my tramadal prescription. I went to see a different rheum. but she said she couldn't help me until I was completley weaned off prednisone and wouldn't even answer my questions. Well, hopefully I can find a place to tap into my son's wireless internet, but we'll be in the boonies so it's not likely. I'll miss everybody. laura Since I had taken the Hydrocodone for so long I did not feel woozy either. However, it is a narcotic and my attorney said I can be charged for driving while impaired even though I didn't feel impaired since I was taking a narcotic and stumbled when the Hwy Patrol Officer asked me to get out of the car. I stumble a lot. She didn't care to hear that. and arrested me one hour after I passed the breathalizer test. I had no idea a prescription drug could get one arrested.I haven't taken a pain pill since May. I hope the Ultram will help. Bauman <ilovecats83160@...> wrote:, YIKES!! I sometimes take Norco, which has hydrocodone in it. It never occurred to me that I could get busted for it. As you know, after you've taken it for a while, it doesn't make you woozy any more--I just feel normal and not in as much pain. I can drive perfectly fine and, in fact, I need to take a pain pill if I have a lot of errands to run. Otherwise, I'm hobbling around long before I get anything done. I, too, switched to Ultram (tramadal) because I was having trouble getting doctors to take me seriously since I was taking a narcotic. Tramadal isn't as effective, but it is almost as effective if you take it with Tylenol. Maybe you could ask your doctor if you could take it with 2 X-tra Strength Tylenol with the Ultram. It does at least take the edge off. I'm so sorry that you have this legal difficulty for just trying to live a normal life. One thing I've seen from this group is that a lot of us have pain management issues that get very sticky. Best wishes--laura C <bravewmn@...> wrote:, I have had chronic pain for years and since I have RLS, I cannot take muscle relaxers, which do help some with the fibromyalgia. My nuerologist had me on hydrocodone for back pain, however, on Mother's Day this year, I was arrested for DWI and my case has not been settled yet. What a mess! I am now taking Ultram for the pain, but just started it two days ago so I don't know how effective it will be. --------------------------------- Music Unlimited - Access over 1 million songs.
