Question about DMARDs

I have a question for you all about DMARDs. I know they suppress the

immune system, but has anyone noticed that it takes things like cuts

and bruises a WHOLE LOT longer to heal than before you started taking

them? Is this one of the effects of the immune suppression? I worry

that bruises lingering around for a while (more than a month) isn't

normal, but my Fibro memory always makes me forget to ask my doctors!

Thanks,

Jen

No, I haven't noticed that anything has taken longer to heal. I've

taken 17.5 mg of methotrexate a week for over a year.

I have noticed it takes longer to heal, and I am prone to bruising much

easier than I did before. Cassy

Thanks to all who anwered my question about bruises and cuts and

healing time. It makes me feel " somewhat " better to know that it's

caused by the drugs.

The ironic thing though, is that I don't get sick as easily as I

used to...probably because I refuse to take antibiotics anymore!

Since most of my problems were originally caused by an antibiotic

reaction, I've shied away from them for the past 3 years, and now I

just don't get sick. With the warning about immune suppression when

I started taking Plaquenil, I thought I'd be catching everything,

but I watch everyone around me getting sick, and knock on wood, I

never get it. Maybe my auto-immune system was just so out of whack

that being on Plaquenil has finally " straightened it out " . It's

strange, considering I used to get sick at the drop of a hat! Now I

just get PAIN....what a tradeoff!

Thanks again everyone!
