Guest guest
I sometimes wonder about the lack of sleep/thinking amongst some professionals. i have also seen off the wall things in reports that could not possible pertain to person supposedly involved (and wrong names on reports sent to individuals. Of all of it, if that report is ging ANYPLACE but to you, I would make her fix the part about 'sexual touching' - however she worded it. That has a way of haunting a child, even if it is innocuous. Guest guest
Looks like she got a little cavalier with her cut and paste!!! Definitely make her fix it. You don't need the " inappropriate touching " on his record! Guest guest
Hi Lori, Glad that part of the evaluation was helpful. Don't underestimate the mistakes that people can make. A few years ago, my parents heard about a great group home opening in the area.  The group home agency requested a psychological evaluation from 's day program. It was provided to the group home without our review. Long story short, was not accepted. When we finally saw the evaluation, it had numerous serious inaccuracies, including that my brother had a serious vision issue which leads to blindness. They did such a slipshod job on this eval., that in the body of the eval, it had the name " " instead of . Not only did they cut and paste from others' evals, they did not even bother to proof read it to cover their tracks!   After that experience, I have a hard time trusting anything that comes from them or anyone else for that matter. We had the eval. expunged from his file, but the damage was done. I would definitely have the report fixed and also question the ADHD diagnosis. All the best, Irene ________________________________ To: Sent: Sat, June 11, 2011 4:15:15 PM Subject: The Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS)  Hey All: We just got back the official report from taking Isaac to an autism specialist/psychologist in April. One of the Assessment tools was the CARS. Isaac scored a 38.5. The report says that scores below a 30 mean the child does not have autism. Scores in the autism range are between 30 and 60. She named Isaac as having severe autism even though his score was 38.5. Did she mean severe PDD - the official label she reaffirmed? Logically it seems that severe would be between 50 and 60 but then we were wondering if the assessment has an inverted scale. Anyone know? As always there were some other sentences from clear out of the blue. For example she wrote that Isaac once touched himself inappropriately in school in front of female peers but this isn't anywhere in the file we saw. In fact, I didn't give permission for them to contact the school, I just took in a copy of the IEP which was all they asked. We are trying to figure out if she got reports mixed up or something. And whether we should have her fix the report. She also diagnosed him as having ADHD. Other professionals have done ADHD screenings before and he has never come close to having enough symptoms to quality. And I think he is getting much better as he gets older so this is a bit of a surprise as well. There are paragraphs that are correct and helpful. Thanks, Lori
