Changing Minds Lecture set for May 16 in Deer Park

Groundbreaking results on Down Syndrome to be discussed

Changing Minds is a 501c3 non-profit organization, started by parents for

parents of children with Down syndrome. Dr. Cody, parent of a child with

Down syndrome, will present and discuss the protocol her son has been on for

five years. The mother from Houston, Texas, and hundreds of other families have

seen significant improvements in their children's memory and learning as a

result. Dr. Cody has been affiliated with the Stanford Down Syndrome Research

Center, whose groundbreaking work with a DS mouse model, led Dr. Cody to develop

this therapy for significantly improving the memory and cognition in people with

DS.

In addition, Joanne Mothes, a national expert from Columbus, Ohio, who has been

teaching reading and math to children with Down syndrome for more than 38 years,

will discuss the profound effect the Changing Minds protocol has had on her

students and in their ability to learn reading and math.

Tyler Bourque a local young man who has Down syndrome and lost all

developmental milestones has been on parts of the protocol for a few weeks and

has made great strides.

He is singing, talking, and retaining skills he is being taught.
