Guest guest
Hi Glenda: Actually, Methotrexate (a drug also used to treat cancer, but at a much higher dose than taken for RA)is not all that expensive - it's the cheapest med I take for RA. Yes, Prednisone is scary, the drug we both love and hate, and you don't want to take it for too long, but it can sure help with the inflammation and pain. Don't say an absolute no to medications other than antibiotics. I hope that the antibiotics work for you, but be open to something else if they don't. This disease is best fought aggressively to help slow down the progression and the destruction of your joints. Even though you might not be able to see it on the outside, joint destruction is still happening without medication.
