I vaguely remember your past post about your daughter and I think I remember some similarities to my daughter, , who will be 15 this July. She on the other hand seemed to become more psychotic on the prozac and we did not have much luck with it. We are going to see Dr. Capone at the Kennedy Krieger Center the end of March. I know he uses prozac a lot so I'm not sure what his take will be on our experience. Where did you finally get help for your daughter? > Vicki > > To: > From: kristen3kids@... > Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2011 15:29:51 +0000 > Subject: update > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > I haven't posted in a while. , 15, was having psychosis and regression. Well, after much trial and error she's doing so much better on prozac. My question now is sleep. She's been sleeping well on seroquel and melatonin. But, now I'm weaning her off the seroquel as I don't think her problems were actual psychosis. Anyway, with less seroquel, she needs more melatonin. But, through research I've found that melatonin makes the prozac not work as well. I don't want to increase that just because we increased the melatonin. Are any of you using prozac for your kids and what do you use for sleep? > > > > Thanks, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
It was mostly my researching and asking for different things. I finally took her to a psych at Seattle childrens hospital. We tried things that had worked for other parents from the changing minds foundation. A few things helped a little (the seroquel for psychosis) and some things made it worse (the cerefolin NAC). But we just kept trying new things and finally the prozac at 10 mg made a huge improvement. Then we upped it to 15 and she is still improving. The more I read and observed I think her problem was more of an OCD with thoughts getting " stuck " in her head. Sometimes they were scary and she'd cry and say the lady in her head was scary and other times she would just laugh and laugh. It sure seemed as though she were psychotic and hearing/seeing things. But, I now think she just couldn't stop the thoughts. Anyway, whatever it was, the prozac has made a world of difference. She's all the way back to her schoolwork that she could do last year. She hasn't been able to do it all year until we started the prozac the beginning of Jan. If you'd like more info on , please let me know. > > > > > > To: > > From: snickerr6@... > > Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2011 18:08:30 +0000 > > Subject: RE: update > > > > > > I do not post very often but I read most of the post. Guest guest
Hi , We don't use Prozac (yet), but a sleep doctor prescribed 50mg Trazodone for our son Stuart. Don't know how that might interact with the Prozac, but you might check- I know the doctor said that Trazodone has been around a long time, and minimal side effects. It has worked wonders with Stuart! ________________________________ To: Sent: Sat, February 26, 2011 9:29:51 AM Subject: update  Hi all, I haven't posted in a while. , 15, was having psychosis and regression. Guest guest
Thanks, We have tried trazadone and it didn't work for , but the melatonin works great! I just don't like what I read about it with prozac. But, so far, so good, so I'm going to keep with what's working. > > Hi , > We don't use Prozac (yet), but a sleep doctor prescribed 50mg Trazodone for our > son Stuart. Don't know how that might interact with the Prozac, but you might > check- I know the doctor said that Trazodone has been around a long time, and > minimal side effects. It has worked wonders with Stuart! > > > > > ________________________________ > > To: > Sent: Sat, February 26, 2011 9:29:51 AM > Subject: update > >  > Hi all, > > I haven't posted in a while. , 15, was having psychosis and regression. > Well, after much trial and error she's doing so much better on prozac.
