Hi, Everyone....Arian....this is soooooooooooo wrong!!! Having services

for DS is nothing compared to the services need for an autistic child,

especially if there are sensory and behavioral issues involved. Is this the

school talking and are they just trying to save money? Does Jaden have a case

manager for the county that you live in? Many times, MH/MR can refer a

child to their psychiatrists and they can also give the dx. There are

waivers and wraparound services for autistic kids....not something you'd find

for

a *normal* DS kid. I hope you get some answers soon, especially as Jaden

gets older.

Take care, Everyone.

Desi, there isn't much that surprises me anymore. I think I have seen and heard

it all. If an IEP team knows that they are dealing with an uniformed parent then

they will take advantage of them when the situation is in the best interest of

the district. I think in this instance someone didn't do their job and the

school psychologist was not sent the referral, therefore no testing took place.

The team purposely scheduled this IEP meeting to have the parent resign to stay

in compliance with the sped regs. I would bet that the 45 days had not yet

lapsed. Sadly in the sped world what parents do not know can hurt their child.

It shouldn't be but unfortunately that is the reality in many situations.
