Lori,

How come you had to give gluten powder on 's foods. It sounds like

your giving the same food that you've been giving him for 10 months.

That's good that his behavior is evening out. I hope that you fine with all

the doctors, etc. visits. So maybe has other problems besides Autism?

I know someone that has ADHD, I can give you their e-mail if you want to

contant them or their parents, and talk about rasing a kid with ADHD; so you

know what to go though. Theirs different types of autism, from sereverly

autism to mild cases of autism. I've babysat a kid and he was like a normal

kid, untill the parents took me home and said that he had autism. He was

like 10 years old.

Hi Cyndi,

What an ordeal you all have been facing. What is this short term facility?

Sounds interesting, good to have a specialty group available that can help

with the SIB (Self Injurious Behavior) and meds. Try and get some rest and

you are all in my prayers.

is out of the Medical Hospital and cleared of pneumonia,no MRSA,as the

Dr. said someone read the report wrong and gave me wrong information.

never had MRSA but had STaph Cellulitis. WE had dental x-rays and teeth are

great. They scoped 's esophagus, and stomach and also took samples of

stomach enzymes everything look good however the Dr. said it looks like he

may have had a little reflux which he did as a baby/toddler. He showed me

the pictures of the scoping. The CT scan on 's head showed the infection

mass under the skin was continuing to shrink from the previous open staph

wound. The CT of the face showed had broken his nose but it was like a

hairline fracture so nothing needed to be reset. The Plastic Surgeon cleaned

out 's wound on his face and biopsied for other pathogens and he is

waiting for the results. still has a little knot in his check that they

were afraid to cut out because it would make the whole on 's check

bigger causing more problems. The surgeon said it they cut it out it may

come back. In order to protect from hurting the wound further we had to

place in a short term facility that can help teach not to hit his

face and get his meds under control. Like many others on this list gets

very self injurious when he is getting sick and so since he has been so sick

I wanted professional help so does not get another infection in his

face. The wound on his face is open and larger than a quarter. His face is

swollen like he has a soft ball in his cheek and jaw. However it is looking

better everyday that we keep him from hitting himself. When had the

open staph infection on his head he hit it hard constantly because it

bothered him but since we got it closed in Nov. he know longer hits his

head. I believe once we get his face healed he no longer will hit his face

either. He keeps transfer staph from head to face and face to head. I hated

to place somewhere more than you will ever know. I guess it would be

easier if he could tell me if the staff did any inappropriate to him however

I cannot keep safe from himself while his face has an open wound. This

placement is temporary and I will be visiting him everyday. The staff has

already called me 4 times to ask questions and he has a private room.

I originally took him to the hospital for pneumonia, fever of 102, and staph

infection. has been having issues of pain for a while and his Dr. were

not able to figure out what was going on with him so while was in the

hospital I had them check his teeth since he grinds them and always puts his

fingers in his mouth and cries to rule out any dental problems. We ordered a

CT scan while he was being put to sleep for dental x-rays,cleanings, and

plastic surgery because his general surgeon wanted a CT scan after Christmas

as a follow up to a CT scan done in November to see if the infection mass

that was under the previous wound on his head was still shrinking.

Thanks Charlyne, and Liz for keeping everyone updated on my guy. Thanks for

the prayers and well wishes. I believe that he is on his road to recovery

because of all of you guys praying.thanks again. Cyndi Burns

13 has had on going issues with chronic sinusitis and MRSA in

his right ear. We are on Septra again. Over the years we have had

on and off SIB issues. Well they are rearing their ugly head again

and he is bigger and stronger. He hits his head and loves to get our

hands and twist our fingers. He also scratches. We are giving him

effexor and clonidine. We have tried MANY different things. I know

part of this is puberty. He is completely non verbal except for very

loud grunts, etc. I feel so tired all the time and I feel like I am

letting down my other children. We are constantly walking on egg

shells. We have some help that comes in afternoons but is

still here and we all have to endure his outbursts. I wish there was

a place in NC where they could go for one weekend a month to give the

family a break. Its exhausting. I had to get my license re-done the

other day and my last one was taken in 2007 I promise you I look like

I have aged 10 years or more. It made me realize how hard this is on

us emotionally and physically sometimes.

So happy he is NOT infected with MRSA. And that he is recovering. And

even more sorry that he needs the help of yet another facility to help him

get well.

On the other hand - he is getting well. I know that is a relif to you.

My best and biggest hugs, Cyndi.

Just heard from Cyndi and.....

is doing great and the hospital seems to be helping him learn to stop

hitting his face and keeping the wound open. has several little blonde

girlfriends there. I have to laugh because can't talk but the girls

think he is cute and talk his arm off. They love helping him too.

Cyndi B, hearthugs to you both.

And about the man on Dr Oz...try reiki out. NOT to replace doctors/meds. It has

been known to enhance well being. FWIW, I always advocate trying a few sessions

& if reiki is something one likes, then take a reiki 1 class so that one can

perform self reiki & reiki on others. That way it is less costly as well as

readily available 24/7, (there is NO need to take Reiki2 or Reiki3 unless one

wants to teach/go into business)

Hugs again,

Kris

this plays heavy on my mind. I called to get an appointment with 's DAN doc

be the only Dr. that can really help . We have not seen here since 2009.

Sara, is constantly hitting himself since he came home from the hospital

March 12th. He has regressed to almost infantile behaviors. We cannot keep him

from contaminating himself with staph over and over. You had a good thought on

my dental pain but is the culprit. We have an appointment with his DAN doc

but we could not get him in until August. I am really worried about him. Cyndi
