Guest guest
Hi Margaret, Thank goodness this was just a fill-in doc for Gareth, and not his regular PCP, who I'm sure understands Gareth and your concerns. If these docs were in your shoes, they would be doing exactly the same thing (or at least one would hope they would) by taking their son or daughter to the doctor for treatment, even if it ends up being a different diagnosis. Thank goodness you did, as ear infections can be painful and certainly need to be treated. To me a good doctor is like a good hair colorist/stylist: they are rare gems and once you find them, you don't want to let them go! I was just saying to my husband the other day how fortunate we are that 's " medical team " is really good: they are very experienced with special needs, compassionate, respect our position as parents, and genuinely love our son. I joke with 's ENT all the time that he has to live to 100 yrs. old and remain in practice in order to treat . He told me a few weeks ago that he and his wife would like to be guests at 's wedding!! This is even after many wrestling matches, piercing sceams, and running away episodes with in his office,.......Dr. Fieldman is one in a million. We are also one in a million on this list-serv to endure with our kids all that they go through......a toast to all of us!!!!! He hasn't run a fever, per say, since it only got to 98 - 99 and his temp is usually 96-97.........but, he's got that MBL deficiency so his body doesn't know to fight bacterial infections. He kept pointing to the same area that the pneumonia started the past 3 times....LRL. I swear the doc looked at me like I was some sort of crazy Mom, out looking for attention, because the ONLY thing wrong with G was that he had a left ear infection!!! Thankfully, Strep was negative. The doc wasn't his normal one, but geeeeesshhh, I do know my kid!!! He kept asking Gareth these really in depth questions and G just looked at him, and then at me, waiting for me to answer for him or knock the question down for G to understand. Just a petty rant............you would think doctor visits would get easier, but they haven't. If G cries wolf, I listen.....over and over and over and over. Take care, Everyone.
