Guest guest
Hi Everyone.....I was really surprised by the *hoop la* that one has to go through to get a wheelchair, therapy stroller, etc. The guys told us that if Gareth only had Medical Access, they wouldn't have bothered. Since he still retains his primary insurance, under his Dad, then they feel it will go through OK. You always see these advertisement for these power chairs on TV and they make it sound like it's a done deal. There is so much red tape to clear just to get one paid for. We bought a used wheelchair 7 yrs ago for $200 or so. I found out yesterday that it is a wheelchair for *in home* transport.....not for running through airports, malls, and back country. The one they are ordering for Gareth has larger tires and air filled tubes, like a bike. Gareth's *plus* is that he already has the hx of hip surgery, with 5 pins left in, and he wears the Ritchie braces for ankle/arch support. He's also got the asthma and UCTD, which cause over whelming fatigue at times. I'll keep you posted if it goes through. Take care, Everyone.
