Guest guest
I hope this is not TMI to post here, but I have a concern that my son's inability to make it to the potty to have a bowel movement sometimes (unless we take him on a regular schedule and have him sit for 15-20 minutes at a time) may be related to lack of muscle tone in the rectal area. He has never had any outward signs of poor muscle tone at all. But we have noticed (his entire life) that he has what *appears* to be a rather large opening at the anal opening. I never really thought about it until this morning and it does appear that the reason this might be is because there is no muscle tone in the sphincter (you know how you would normally see lines around the anal opening which shows you the sphincter has good muscle tone? Well, there are not any.) If this is common and this is the case, is there anything that can be done to resolve the issue? Chances are if there is no muscle tone there, then his intestines also lack muscle tone---which is a severe problem that I do not know how to solve. Thanks for your help and sorry if this was too much information.
