Hi a,

Welcome. I am relatively new myself, having joined in November.  The group has

been extremely helpful and supportive.   The parents in this group are

knowledgeable and generous with their time.  Most members are parents of

children and teens, like you.  I am a sibling.  My brother, , is in his

40s.

I wanted to write tonight, in case you are still on line.  I am sure you will

receive many responses tomorrow.

Glad you found us.

a - welcome to our list. Tell us were in the world you are, what the

situation is for your child. Support is here!

My son, Elie isnow 25yo. I found this list as he was being dx at about age

10. I have learned so much from other families whose children are going

thru the same things we were going thru with our son.

We have 6 children in our family - ELie is youngest, adopted at age 3. My

oldest-, twins adopted, are now 43, Then we have a 40 yo daughter, 37 yo

son, another son soon to be 30 - adopted , and then ELie.

HE is currently living with a caregiver who is his friend. THey rent a

house together and live in a community near to us.

Welive in the NOrthern mountains of Georgia - where we are again iced in!!!

Hi a I live in Cary NC and my son with Down syndrome is 13 he

was diagnosed with autism at age 5. is non verbal and right

now is doing okay. We have been through MANY highs and lows. He has

had SIB behaviors and recently went through a very aggressive phase

towards others. We are working on meds. He also has battled chronic

upper respiratory infections since birth but recently has had bouts

of MRSA in his ear. He also has scoliosis and has a 40 percent

curvature of the spine. So we have a list of docs we see:)

Hopefully you will find that this group gives support but also they

understand. I finally feel like when I read the post that I have a

connection.

Welcome
