Hi -

Welcome to the group. You will have to tell us all about Jordan; how old he

is, where you live, his favorite things...who knows, he may be just like

some other child on this list serve. If you tell us where you live we might

know of resources in your area and stuff like that. I have 2 sons with DS

and PDD. They are Isaac who just turned 14 and Tony who is 12. Isaac is

very Aspergerish, clearly a kid on the spectrum but with many abilities.

Tony doesn't have the same highs and lows, he is just a really nice kid who

is laid back and likes to flap things and verbally stim in his free time -

we try to limit this.

We live in Madison, Wisconsin which used to be a great place for education

and is better than many other places but, we have lost some of our

progressive educational edge thanks to a funding formula that began about 9

years ago. Nonetheless, we have great state parks and hiking is one of our

favorite things.

Welcome,

Lori

Mom to Isaac 14 and Tony 12

Imagine my suprise and delight to find a whole group with 1300 plus members

dealing with Down syndrome and Autism when I kept being told that my Jordan

was just on a more extreme end of the Ds spectrum and couldn't have both. I

was feeling so alone. I'm anxious to get to know people who are living with

similar issues with their children. We love our little (BIG) guy to pieces

and just want to understand his world better and make his life happier and

ours too. Thanks already. You don't know how much it means just to know you

are all out there somewhere and I'm really not alone.

: Welcome to our list. Itoo was told the same thing about my child.

Elie is now 25 - he was 10ish before we got a dx of Pdd-NOS/ASD?.

Sorry things haven't changed for you.

We live in NOrth GA mountains where Elie, the youngest of 6 , lives in a

nearby community with his caregiver/friend. They rent a home together.

Tell us about your guy, where you live, etc. Surely as fast as our list is

growing, there may be a list mate near you.
