I never had any adverse effects (in fact I don't think it did anything). But as far as the eye thing is concerned I have a very good eye doctor and he told me that the amount they prescribe for arthritis would never do retinal damage. He said he had done research on the subject and the concerns are from way back (the 20's through the 40's) when doctors prescribed high doses of quinine (Plaquenil) for malaria.
