Hi everyone & happy 2011,

For those using augmentative communication devices (ACD)I was wondering what

type of things you have programmed for speech. The ST & I have been emailing

back & forth & I just sent her a partial list of things to program into the new

device (pertaining to home life). She is programming school based stuff. We

plan on initially having seperate areas designated for home life & school life

but use both to complement one another in real time communication. That way, if

I ask where DJ worked or if they ask what he did over the weekend info needed to

communicate the response is available.

Oddly, my quick list is currently not very long & has an emphasis on the " Ws " as

I realized during holiday break that DJ does not respond to very many W

questions. He appears to do better with questions that only require a yes/no

response which is not so good.

Maybe I am having a brain toot, but would appreciate any examples or suggestions

anyone currently uses for communicating purposes so I can add to the list if

applicable..

The device will come home on Thursday & after we gingerly play around with it I

will have a slightly better clue as to what all it can do & what can be added in

the layers.

Gulp. Signed the agreement today. The flipping replacement value is $7820.00

for the Maestro plus $155.00 for the carrying case.....

I am excited but nervous, ya know?

Thank you!

Kris
