Guest guest
Hey , Do you get IHSS? When is your next eval? I do not think Angie got protective supervision still she was about 5. At 5 they came and I said how she cannot go into a bathroom alone, cannot really be left alone in a room without many gates to protect from bookcases, fireplace, kitchen. She climbs up and over gates. She will open doors, like we used to have no gate in her room, she learned to open her door and walk down (or rather scoot) down the stairs. I know we got that 3.6% cut in hours because of the state and I have a feeling more will be cut. BUT, please be sure to tell them of how he is not like a typical 5 year old and cannot stay alone in his room, or take a bath alone, or that you need to have to keep things like kitchens and bookcases safe. These were key into the protective supervision. Also key was that she could not dress, potty, etc, even prepare a simple snack she cannot do and these were some of the things they asked at our meeting. And I had no idea about protective supervision until a few years ago when another mom told me about it. Our house is bare bones now because of how Angie climbs. Bookcases are blocked off, bathrooms, kitchens, the fireplace, it is like a maze in here of gates!!! Definitely call up your social workers and find out when your next assessment is, or even say you need to apply for protective supervision. I hope this helps!!! Email me or post here and let me know or if I can help more!!! Meg
