Margaret: We are in the process again of getting a new wheelchair for

Tori. We are going through our primary and then through the secondary.

This is our 2nd piece of equipment in 3 years, cause Missy has grown so much

and the mobility stroller (AXIOM II) is top heavy when she bangs and her

hips are now too wide. We got a LMN from her Dev. Ped as well as an eval

from her PT. Let me know if you need more info..

Hi Margaret,

We have one. 's ped wrote a prescription and because of his gait and

low tone he qualified. It helps a lot when we have any major walking to do.

He also tolerates staying out longer if he's comfortable.

Hi, Everyone.....has anyone successfully gone through their private or

Medicaid/KB,etc, to get a wheel chair? Gareth's is over 8 yrs old and

REALLY

worn. I'd love to get him an all terrain one for when we travel and

hike.....let him be more a part of our vacations.

Take care, Everyone.

Margaret, Yes is 15 yrs old and has a wheelchair. had to have a letter

from a PT and his pediatrician. Walking is a state of mine as you know. I never

send the wheelchair to school anymore but still need it for shopping. has

walked all of Disney without his wheelchair because for him it is the Happiest

Place on Earth. Let me know if you need more info. Cyndi Burns

We are in an appeal right now with our private on a mobility transport

system for (expecting to win) The chair is close to $6000 (Kimba

system) Seems our insurance auto denies anything that

Is not " standard " pediatrician is actually doing the appeal and

sent a letter stating why a typical standard chair would not work and why

the Kimba and all its components are " medically necessary "

That's the key - it must be medically necessary. I am confident KB would

have covered it, but I saw no reason our private should not and why I am so

ademet that they do - he is 25lbs and just barely sitting up with seizures,

a standard chair for him is ridiculous

You may have to cover the all terrain part unless you can state why it is

medically necessary

Best of luck

Kel
