Guest guest
<< shocked me tonight>> Hi, Everyone........had to laugh. Gareth shocked me tonight by eating Chinese. Usually, he will eat the rice with sauce on and ONLY meat. Tonight, he sat and ate all the mixed veggies in with it......carrots, broccoli, beans, onions, etc!!! I don't know if it was because he was so hungry that he didn't want to wait for me to separate everything out or what!!! Hey, he's ONLY 22 y/o.......there's hope for any child!!! ....there are many on the list from Texas. Irma has seniority from that area!!! She's been on as long as the group has existed. Also, I forgot to mention, that many of us consider ASD the primary dx for our kids once it is gotten. It is the autism that will wreck havoc throughout their lives in sensory, educational, behavioral needs, etc.....especially in school situations. If Gareth was acting weird (flop and drop, hand flapping, spinning, etc) and I noticed people watching, I would comment " He's autistic " ........ " Oh, I thought he was DS. " ......... " Yeah, he has that, too. " It's an excellent way to educate the public....especially others with DS kiddo's that you see in public and JUST KNOW are on the spectrum, too. " Oh, hi, my kid has autism and DS. " Get them educated. I sub at school in the spec needs class that has 2 kids with CP and ASD. You have to figure if ASD is on the rise in the normal population, it is also on the rise in the spec needs population. It doesn't need to be shoved under the rug....it needs to be addressed in all kids. Take care, Everyone. Margaret
