I asked the school the other day if anyone had footage of Aubrey's Beginning

Band concert. Nothing so far. No surprise that they aren't really asking the

mainstream kids... My video camera battery was weird and I only caught Jingle

Bells on my phone. Shucks! I always have VC with me...

Taking Aubrey pretty much anywhere is extremely stressful so I can relate,

believe me. and I were discussing last night, how unbelievable it seems

(knowing that we struggle to take her everywhere else) that Aubrey is so focused

on stage where so much could possibly go wrong and it is so high-risk!

Then we realized that it makes a lot of sense when you consider that she's grown

up watching us perform for years. Aubrey became a part of our shows from the

first time when invited her up on stage to dance the hula with her while

sang a number from the Lilo and Stitch movie...Aubrey got a kick out of

seeing herself on tv news stories over and over again and since then she will do

ANYTHING to be on camera or on stage...probably for the APPLAUSE!

So...it seems like the trick to get Aubrey to behave at least somewhat

appropriate socially in all other venues is to get her to believe she is on

STAGE all day long!!!! Just kidding! I think it's just that we've been blessed

to discover what she is most passionate about-music! and what she believes she

can " excel " in. It's an absolute joy to watch her dance in her special needs

dance class as well.

We have a show this Sunday again. Sadly, the now sentimental purple dress that

Aubrey earned from her great band performance was misplaced by her weekend

skills trainer after last Saturday's show. Ugh. So tomorrow night Aubrey gets to

choose a new dress to wear. She signs " Who Would Imagine a King " from the

Preacher's Wife in our show. McFee from American Idol has a new

Christmas Album and it's on that. We're still getting touching calls about her

performance last Saturday morning...

Our kids know when they are truly appreciated for their gifts! The stage is her

happy place! Thank God we found it for her!

Desi,

Congratulations to you and Aubrey for all your hard work that resulted in, after

all, such a memorable evening. Your perseverance, like Charlyne's, has certainly

paid off for your daughter and all those fortunate enough to be working with

her. Despite the obvious setbacks, I am so glad you didn't let them prevent you

from seeing Aubrey shine.

Did someone film it? I sure hope it's on camera. If so, I wonder how Miss

Aubrey will respond to seeing herself on stage?

You really have nerves of steel! Pete's high-risk behaviors made such events

impossible after about grade three. Taking him to the grocery store is

currently the activity that breaks me out in cold sweat; to imagine seeing your

daughter on stage and performing is beyond wonderful. God bless!
