Guest guest
/Sara/Group: Cyndi: The policy varies from state to state, however feel free to explore and consult with our local office on the policy. Your circumstances are different from a lot of other people be careful of who you listening to as their situation may be different from yours. No one entered your information incorrectly as your spouse became employed your circumstances changed regarding your Childs' eligibility for SSI. The confusion in your case could be related to why Medicaid was stopped when the SSI was stopped. When a person is eligible to receive SSI they automatically receive Medicaid. When SSI stops so does the Medicaid. I'm sure your friend in VA could explain that to you. You can have all of these benefits at the same time, however it all depends on criteria being met. No one in our office put your Childs' information in our system incorrectly, again your Medicaid stopped due to your family income. At that point per the letter you received it was your responsibility to investigate your Childs eligibility for Medicaid. You did receive a notice from social security advising you to come to our office. SSI stands for supplemental income that's why once a person is working earning more than the income and resource limit for this program benefits or stopped. This standard and should be covered in the information you received when your child started receiving the benefit. However this process can be very confusing as it relates to Medicaid waiver. Briefly after your child was approved for Michele P Waiver in a lot of cases they are not approved for SSI. At this point a second application process is required to obtain Medicaid to cover the services approved by Michele P Waiver providers. In closing I encourage you to re examine all your documents related to your Childs benefits carefully. Also you should contact the local social security office if you have more questions about social security polices and procedure, thanks.
